An Ayahuasquero is someone who leads ceremonies with sacred medicinal plants (plantas maestras) such as Ayahuasca, Peyote, Iboga or San Pedro. Also known as a shaman or medicine-man/woman, but specifically with ethenogentic plants. An Ayahuasquero knows the powers of the plants he or she works with, as well as the forces of nature and the universe. The Ayahuasquero is in the service of these loving creative forces and also knows that they need to be dealt with reverence and respect.
By tuning in to these forces or energies, the Ayahuasquero can assist others who partake in the ceremony with the processes they go through in order to achieve healing and personal (spiritual) growth. It is therefore also very important that the shaman is also a practiced psychotherapist and body worker because, with or without an entheogenic agent, they must be able to assist people in their path to healing, processing, awareness and development
During ceremonies the Ayahuasquero uses music, song, and even dance to steer the atmosphere. As a result, allowing participants to go deeper into their journey. This gives the shaman the space to travel and experience what is needed to help a person with what needs to be done. He or she also ensures that the spirits can work with their healing energies and that the ceremony is protected against negative influences.
A good Ayahuasquero is able to guide the processes of the participants. They are able to recognize what each participant needs and they feel what is going on in each journey. They have a lot of knowledge in healing trauma and the healing of psychological and psycho-somatic problems and non-functional patterns. A modern shaman knows how to combine the knowledge of the ancient sacred botany with the Eastern wisdom, Western psychotherapeutic techniques, modern (electronic) music and instruments. This makes the Neo-Shaman an expert creates the ceremony in a safe environment where the participants can confidently go on their internal journey and know that they will be well cared for. The Ayahuasquero also helps participants understand new insights and how to integrate them into daily life after the ceremony
Traditionally an Ayahuasquero originated from a family of shamans who were born and raised in the jungle amidst the medicinal plants and spirits. Ronald and Mandy do not come from such a family and did not spend their lives living in the jungle. Nevertheless, the modern Ayahuasquero or better Neo-Shaman has no boundaries since we are all connected to each other. It has become clear to us that Mother Ayahuasca seeks contact with humanity in its entirety to bring healing, love, and peace. That is why she too went beyond her boundaries to spread her wisdoms to other parts of the world and thus also collaborate with the modern facilitators. The path of the Ayahuasquero is a long and intensive path in building a strong trust relationship with your Higher Self, the Spirits of the plants and their wisdoms.
